Join a leading infrastructure general contractor as an Assistant Project Manager - Underground Utilities / Heavy Civil, supporting complex public works and utility projects across Southern California. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with strong underground utility experience, especially in wet utilities, trenching, and underground piping. This is an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, field-driven environment, collaborating with field and executive teams to deliver impactful infrastructure projects that serve local communities.

How You'll Contribute

  • Coordinate and manage field operations in partnership with project superintendents and engineers
  • Track project schedule, scope, and costs, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors
  • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements, safety protocols, and local regulations
  • Lead project documentation, change management, and progress reporting
  • Mentor Project Engineers and junior team members to support professional growth
  • Participate in internal project reviews and financial updates with senior leadership

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of field experience in heavy civil or underground construction

  • Hands-on experience with underground piping, trenching, and wet utility installation in California

  • Familiarity with public works requirements, Cal/OSHA standards, and city agency coordination

  • OSHA 30 (CAL/OSHA) certification required

  • Proven ability to manage and mentor project teams

  • Strong time management, organization, and communication skills

  • Ability to access and navigate active job sites across various terrains and conditions
